Last week Avening Primary School celebrated their end of term with Enrichment Week. Every where in the school the children were learning about different countries and cultures, creating beautiful silk jungle paintings, huge African Rain Sticks, Masks, Chinese Dragons and the Maori Haka! I had the fab job of working with each class, learning dance routines inspired by the country the children were exploring. Reception class got bouncy to a bhangra routine with jingly coin belts, Year 1/2 worked on some partner dancing to the Latin Ballroom Cha Cha Cha, Year 3/4 class developed an Aboriginal Celebration Dance and Y5/6 got funky to the African Contemporary Dance Styles of Azonto and Shoki. The Parents were invited to watch a presentation from each class finishing with a montage of the dance routines. Well done to all the children at Avening School!
